Nicolas Salfner

I am a Berlin-based Integrated Designer with a focus on Moving Image, Graphic Design, and Visual Identity.

My journey in design education began in 2019 with an apprenticeship in Audiovisual Media Design at UFA Serial Drama in Cologne. During this three-year programme, I gained extensive experience in the production of films, TV series, shows, and animation. After completing my apprenticeship, I continued working with UFA alongside my studies, focusing primarily on social media content.

In 2022, I started studying Integrated Design at Köln International School of Design (KISD) to broaden my perspective and explore a wider range of design disciplines. The programme introduced me to twelve different areas of design, including Moving Image, Visual Identity, Graphic Design, Typography and Layout. Working across these disciplines allowed me to develop a versatile approach to design and to explore how different media and visual systems can work together.

In 2025, I moved to Berlin to develop my Bachelor’s thesis, focusing on wayfinding and pictograms within Berlin’s public transport network. This project strengthened my interest in Environmental Graphic Design, Wayfinding, and information systems, and continues to influence the way I approach design today.

Since graduating in January 2026, I have continued working in social media at UFA while also working as a freelance content creator for Rausgegangen Berlin. Alongside these roles, I am looking to further develop my practice in visual identity, graphic design, moving image, and spatial communication.
